Don Forgeron, President and CEO Insurance Bureau of Canada
Presentation Title Climate Change is Everybody’s Business What Government, the Private Sector, and individuals should be doing now to adapt!
Wednesday, February 22, 2012
Delta Brunswick Hotel
The cost of severe weather is taking a growing toll on Canadians in both economic and human terms. Last year alone, people in many parts of the country have been forced to cope with tragedy as a result of the sudden onslaught of tornadoes, flooding and hailstorms. Severe weather events that used to happen once every 40 years are now more likely to take place every six years. The property and casualty insurance industry is in a unique position to witness the disastrous effects first-hand and measure the financial consequences. In an insightful and thought-provoking address, Don Forgeron, President and CEO of Insurance Bureau of Canada, explains why governments at all levels and the private sector should invest in adaptation strategies now to lessen the impact. He also talks about the role families and individuals can play to protect their property and their communities.

What Our Members Are Saying...
“We are so pleased to be a member of the Board of Trade. We opened a brand new hotel in a city we barely knew, without any business contacts to begin with. Through Board of Trade, we attended business mixers where we connected with other businesses, made friends and relationships with clients that we are still working with to this day. I am so grateful for all the amazing staff that helped us along the way with such a positive attitude. I was most impressed by the efficiency and organization of the Board of Trade - they send out frequent newsletters to update members on important events coming up such as Luncheons featuring notable speakers, tradeshows or seminars that would benefit our business. I would recommend to any businesses out there - large or small - to join the Board of Trade to take advantage of the incredible networking and learning opportunities they provide to the members.”
