Mission Statement
To contribute to a productive economic environment for business in Saint John.  To provide encouragement, assistance and guidance for established enterprises, or those aspiring to become established in business.

The Saint John Board of Trade is dedicated to fostering an economic climate that enhances growth, prosperity, and an improved quality of life in the community.  With more than 1,000 members, representing 600 small, medium, and large businesses and organizations and therefore, the interests of more than 30,000 citizens, the Board is a dynamic advocate and the principal voice for the business community of Greater Saint John.  It offers a variety of programs, activities, services, and networking opportunities designed to enhance the business prospects of members and the overall business climate of the area.

Established in 1819, the Saint John Chamber of Commerce was formed when a small group of merchants joined forces, led by the Honourable William Black. In 1872 this association became the Saint John Board of Trade and has become an instrumental player in the development of the Saint John business community.

The Board of Trade has been instrumental in the creation of several important organizations in the city including:

• The Saint John Waterfront Development Partnership;
• The Saint John Port and Industrial Commission;
• The United Way;
• The Harbour Bridge and Throughway;
• Enterprise Saint John;
• The Saint John Airport Authority;
• Saint John Campus - University of New Brunswick;
• The Business Resource Centre

The Saint John Board of Trade takes a proactive approach to business development assistance by listening to members in order to find out what issues they face. The Board of Trade works with community partners to find solutions to ensure that your business continues to grow. The Board of Trade is well positioned to address the needs of our business community by leveraging its considerable influence at all levels of government.
