Jim was appointed as President & Chief Executive Officer of Saint John Port Authority in September 2010. Jim brought over 30 years of experience in the marine and public sectors to Port Saint John and he began his career on ships out of Saint John in the mid 1970’s. In 1981, he re-joined the Canadian Coast Guard where he was promoted to leadership positions including Regional Director of the Central and Artic Region and Director General, Marine Programs. Jim’s Coast Guard experience took him to ports across Canada and around the world.
After 23 years with the Coast Guard, Jim joined the Privy Council Office’s Machinery of Government Secretariat and Social Development Policy Secretariat as a Senior Advisor. In 2002, Jim joined Indian and Northern Affairs Canada as Director General of Lands and was promoted through several leadership positions culminating in the Chief Financial Officer/Assistant Deputy Minister role. Jim also held the position of Chief Financial Officer at Canadian International Development Agency before leaving government to work at Port Saint John.
Jim is a graduate of Dalhousie University (Bsc) and holds the professional designation of Certified Management Accountant (CMA) – Certified Public Accountant (CPA).
Jim presently serves on the Board of Directors for the Association of Canada Port Authorities (ACPA). Jim has served as past Chair of the Canadian Delegation at the American Association of Port Authorities (AAPA) and was appointed Chairman of the Board for 2015-2016 at the American Association of Port Authorities (AAPA), a position which has not been held by a Canadian Chairman since 2005-2006.
Additionally, Jim is pleased to serve as Honorary Lieutenant Colonel for the 3rd Field Artillery Regiment (The Loyal Company), 5th division army. He is involved in a number of business committees in Saint John, notably he serves as the Board Chair of The Saint John Region Chamber and serves as a member of the Board of Directors for the Saint John Seafarers Mission.
Deirdre L. Wade, Q.C. is a partner in the Saint John office of Cox and Palmer. She was called to the New Brunswick Bar in 1988 after completing her education at the University of New Brunswick. Deirdre received the designation of Queen’s Counsel in 2005 and joined Cox and Palmer in 2013 after many years with the former firm of Barry Spalding.
Deirdre enjoys a diverse litigation practice with an emphasis on insurance, administrative, health, privacy, regulated professions, labour and employment and workers’ compensation law.
Deirdre is a former Director of the Canadian Bar Association – National (2005-06), the Canadian Bar Insurance Association (2007-15) and the Atlantic Provinces Economic Council (2009-15).
A life-long resident of the Saint John area, Deirdre is married to C. Paul W. Smith and has one son, Chip Smith.”
Paul Gordon is the General Manager of Scholten's Stores in the greater Saint John area, comprising of 3 locations and over 70 employees. Paul has been with Scholten's for 35 years and has been managing different aspects of the company for 33 of those years. During this time he has also been involved with the design, renovation, and construction of 8 different retail locations. He recently supervised the construction of a brand new location on Loch Lomond Road and an extensive redesign of a current location on Somerset Street.
Paul has been a member of the Chamber of Commerce for over 20 years and has served on the Board for the majority of that time. He has also been involved in many other organizations and committees.
Paul and his wife Theresa live in Grand Bay-Westfield with their 2 yellow labs. His personal interests lie in playing golf, billiards, and travel.
Claire Ryan is the the Manager of Public Affairs for CAA Atlantic, where she oversees corporate communications and advocacy initiatives related road safety, the environment, and mobility.
Claire is very involved in the community and has volunteered her time with a number of organizations. She currently the chair of the St. Joseph’s Hospital Advisory Board and past chair of the Saint John Region Chamber of Commerce. She also appears on-air bi-weekly as a Community Correspondent on CTV Morning Live Atlantic. She is an alumnus of 21inc.’s 21 Leaders program and the Governor General’s Canadian Leadership Conference.
Claire is certified by the International Association of Public Participation (IAP2). She holds a Masters Degree in Communications Management from McMaster University, an Advanced Diploma in Public Relations from the Nova Scotia Community College and a Bachelor of Arts from St. Francis Xavier University.
Chris MacDonaldDirector, Government RelationsJ.D. Irving, Limited
Chris MacDonald was born in Chatham, New Brunswick. In 1986 Chris graduated from St. Thomas University with a Bachelor of Arts (B.A. Hons. Dist.). In 1989 he graduated from University of Ottawa where he completed a Bachelor of Laws Degree (LL.B.). Chris joined Saint John Shipbuilding Limited (“SJSL”) as in-house legal counsel in 1991. In 1995 he was transferred to SJSL’s parent company, J.D. Irving, Limited. In January, 2004 Chris took on the role of Director, Government Relations for the J.D. Irving group of companies. Chris is a member of the Canadian Bar Association and Law Society of New Brunswick. He is a member of the Board of Directors of the Saint John Region Chamber of Commerce, and he is a former member of the Board of Directors of Enterprise Saint John, the Greater Saint John Community Foundation, and Sports New Brunswick. Chris is married to Jane Grannan, and they have three children. Chris and his family reside in Rothesay, New Brunswick.
John has been an investment advisor at TD Wealth since 2014 where he and his father have joined under the banner of Fitzpatrick Wealth Management. John graduated from St. Francis Xavier University with a BBA in 2009. Upon graduation he joined Irving Oil in the Finance Department. After two years, John decided to further his education, and returned to school at the University of New Brunswick to pursue his Master's Degree specializing in Finance.
When he completed his MBA, John joined a leading Canadian money management firm and was responsible for their Atlantic Canada division. Learning from the best and brightest minds in the Canadian investment world he then brought these skills to TD. He obtained his Chartered Investment Managers designation and continues to build on his education.
John lives in Rothesay with his wife Becca and their two Duck Tollers Piper and Charlie. He enjoys time playing golf, fishing and a weekly basketball game. He has been involved with various boards within the Saint John area, including the Chamber, YMCA Endowment Committee, Symphony New Brunswick Investment Committee and Chair of Fusion Saint John.
Cynthia has more than 20 years’ experience as a leader and senior specialist in communications, marketing and public affairs across a variety of sectors including post-secondary education, energy, gaming and agency.
Before joining Revolution, she held successively senior communications roles with some of Atlantic Canada’s most well-known brands, such as Mount Allison University, Atlantic Lottery Corporation, Irving Oil and the University of New Brunswick. At Revolution, Cynthia leads client work for organizations of various sizes and sectors, nationwide. She also contributes to the overall strategic direction and operational management of the agency.
Cynthia holds a Bachelor of Journalism (Highest Honours in Journalism and Law) from Carleton University. She is an avid volunteer and board member of a number of community and professional organizations, including CNIB New Brunswick, the Saint John Development Corporation and the Saint John Tourism Coalition of New Brunswick. She is currently Co-Chair of the Energy East Partners’ Forum in Saint John, a True Growth 2.0 working group.

Rob Hutton has been in the Insurance industry for 15 years of which 12 he has been a Broker and 3 years he was a Commercial Property and Auto Underwriter with a large Canadian owned insurance company. Rob Graduated from UNB with his Bachelor of Business Administration Degree and went on to attained further professional designations, his CIP through the Insurance Institute of Canada and CAIB with the Insurance Brokers of Association of New Brunswick.
Rob is active in his community; he played an instrumental part in the creation of the Dominion Park Ice Fishing Association, was Vice President of the Association for 3 years and worked closely with City of Saint John officials to create a clean and safe fishing experience for West Siders to enjoy. Rob is an avid curler and has been curling for 27 years. He played at the national level in 2016, representing New Brunswick in the Men’s Travelers Curling Club Championship in Kelowna, BC. He’s proud to curl out of the Carleton Curling Club and in Fall 2017 began to take part in assisting the coaches and parents of the Junior Curling program. Rob has been a member of The Chamber since 2014 and prior to that a member of the West Side Business Association.
Rob was born and raised in Fundy Heights and now lives in Churchill Heights where he and his wife, Nicole, are raising their two girls, Sylvie and Rachel. Rob’s pal Jag, the family dog-a Chocolate Lab is never too far. Rob’s personal interests include anything to do with being outdoors; duck hunting in the fall and winter, bass and salmon fishing in the spring and summer.
Janice as been an entrepreneur and creative thinker since she was young.
Janice created, grew and later left her successful soap making business to join the Exit Realty team in 2005 / 2006 Janice has been a long standing member with a construction union. And has held previous stewards positions.
Since 2010, Janice has been successfully building her own Exit team within the Exit organization and has not looked back other than to reflect positively.
To date, Janice has been a top performer at Exit both locally and within North America, winning awards over the past several years.
